Gerakan Youth chief Tan Keng Liang today denied allegation by PAS official organ, Harakah Daily that Gerakan Youth supported hudud and threaten to sue Harakah.
Why is Tan Keng Liang so defensive on the Harakah report that he needs to resort to legal means to silent the media. In fact, Tan Keng Liang could have publicly denounced that Gerakan does not support “UMNO Hudud” proving that Harakah has misreported on this issue.
By taking legal means, Tan Keng Liang is buying time for Gerakan not to take a stand on “UMNO Hudud” before the Teluk Intan by election. It is clear that Gerakan needs UMNO’s help to win the Teluk Intan by election which makes Gerakan reluctant to condemn UMNO for its attempt to implement Hudud in Malaysia.
Tan Keng Liang’s move has also exposed Gerakan hypocrisy and double-faced where Gerakan only dare to oppose “PAS Hudud” but shy away from “UMNO Hudud”.
Najib has publicly declared that the BN government has never opposed the implementation of Hudud in Malaysia. What is Gerakan’s stand on Najib’s statement? Is it true that Gerakan as part of the BN Government has never opposed the implementation of Hudud? Who is lying? Najib or Gerakan?
Gerakan acquiescence to Najib statement is akin to supporting “UMNO’s Hudud”. Gerakan should stop playing politics by condemning PAS but at the same time close an eye to UMNO’s attempt to implement Hudud in Malaysia. BN controlled the upper house and lower house of the parliament, there is absolutely no way a private bill on Hudud could be passed without the support of UMNO.
Is Gerakan prepared to do the right thing and defend the Federal Constitution by denouncing any attempt to implement Hudud in Malaysia, be it “UMNO Hudud” or “PAS Hudud”?
